Studio Gemakker has done a total make-over of the cafe in the Health centre Skanderborg. Before the project was initiated the cafe had a very neglected interior with typical white “hospital” walls and lamps that had not been moved to fit the tables. The place was used by both personnel and patients at the Health centre.
Studio Gemakker made a proposal to give the space warmth and an inviting atmosphere for intimate conversations. This was done by adding dark and red colours in textiles, wall decorations and wood panels. By lowering the lights over the tables small islands of privacy was created. The ligthing was also used in an indirect way to create depth in the space and lit up the wall decorations as a contrast to the dark stained wood.
